On May 2nd we will host the annual BostonFIG Talks and on May 3rd the annual BostonFIG Learns. BostonFIG Talks is a platform for independent designers and developers to share and showcase with one another their learnings in order to foster community, teach valuable lessons, and start dynamic conversations in the independent game creator space about how and why we create games.
BostonFIG Talks will feature three main tracks, Game Design, Game Development and Game Business. We strive for a wide mix of topics from all different sides of game creation — not just digital games but also tabletop, live action, and experimental game forms, since we believe that all game creation is valuable and can create engaging experiences.
Notifications of acceptance will go out by: April 5th, 2020
Speakers are financially responsible for their own transportation and housing, though BostonFIG may be able to assist with finding free accommodations with other local attendees/indies. All BostonFIG Talks attendees and speakers will receive breakfast and lunch as part of the event.
BostonFIG is looking for strong presenters and content regarding indie digital, physical, and mixed media game design, game development, and business topics. The talks will be split up into 3 tracks: Game Design, Game Development, Game Business.
Game Business Topics: Business models, go-to-market strategies, marketing and advertising, financing, working with publishers, and work/life balance.
Game Design Topics: Playtesting, systems design, level design, interaction design, a design methodology or framework, narrative design, serious games design, etc.
Game Development Topics: Workshops on particular engines or tools, prototyping board games, technical reviews, intro to game development, game development tools, etc.
Other topics may be considered, so don’t be afraid to submit a proposal for something outside the box!
